Is The Job Still Open?

All jobs that are currently posted are open.

Definition of Applicant

In compliance with the Office of Federal Contractor's Compliance Programs (OFCCP) October 7, 2005 ruling, Georgia Gwinnett College has adopted the following definition of an applicant:

  • An individual must submit an expression of interest for a specific job.
  • The individual possesses the basic qualifications for the position (including materials requested).
  • And the individual at no point during the selection process prior to receiving an offer of employment from the contractor (employer) removes himself or herself from further consideration or otherwise indicates that s/he is no longer interested in the position.

Unsolicited Application Materials

Only materials that identify a specific, currently vacant position by job title will be accepted as "applications". Unsolicited resumes, or materials requesting general consideration for any position, will not be considered to be applications or retained. Applications previously submitted are not automatically matched with new vacant positions. Applicants must request consideration and resubmit materials for each vacant position.

Application Materials

Candidates must submit an Application for Employment for any position indicating an application form requirement. When you apply for a job, please provide the Employment Office with one set of your application materials (including your application form, resume and/or references) for each job for which you are applying. For each position for which you meet the minimum requirements, the application materials are forwarded to the hiring department for their review.

All application materials (such as cover letters, letters of reference, transcripts, etc.) should be submitted at the time of application and become the property of Georgia Gwinnett College.

Keep a Copy for Your Own Record

Candidates should retain a copy of their application materials. Once submitted, applications, résumés, work samples, etc. become a permanent part of Employment Office files and may not be retrieved. We also recommend keeping a copy of the job posting. After the position closes, copies are not available.

Open Records

Information provided with your application materials is subject to the Georgia Open Records Act (O.C.G.A.§50-18-70).

Ways to Apply

Candidates may apply by mail, e-mail or in person.  Materials may be e-mailed to apply@ggc.usg.edu, mailed to Georgia Gwinnett College, Human Resources, 1000 University Center Lane, Lawrenceville, GA  30043.   Our office is currently located in Suite 3650 of B Building if you wish to drop your materials off in person. Please do not submit your materials more than once.

Will I Hear From the Department?

If you want to know if the position has been closed or filled yet, watch the daily job posting. As long as the position is still listed, that means the position has not been filled. Once a department "closes" a position, it means they are no longer accepting more applications, and the listing is removed from the job posting. It may be some time between the time a department closes the position and when they fill the position. All jobs must be posted for at least 10 working days before any offer can be made. But for many positions in universities, there can be long lag times (sometimes up to 6 months or more), between the time a job is posted and the time it is filled. If it's still on the posting, it's still an active vacancy.

If a hiring department wishes to interview you for a position, they will contact you directly. Most hiring managers prefer that applicants not contact them directly regarding the status of their consideration.

If you are not selected for the position, HR will send you a letter of regret.

Employment Eligibility

By federal law, if you are offered a position, you must present original documentation that establishes your identity and your eligibility to work in the United States. Failure to present acceptable documents within 3 days means you may not be employed. For a list of acceptable documents, refer to http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf.

Criminal Convictions

By Board of Regents policy, convicted felons may not be employed by any unit of the University System of Georgia. Conviction of any criminal drug offense (even a misdemeanor) disqualifies a candidate for at least 2 years (1st offense) or at least 5 years (2nd offense).

Former Employees

Former employees who have been discharged, or who resigned in lieu of discharge, for reasons of misconduct, are not eligible for rehire at Georgia Gwinnett College.

Background/Credit Checks

All positions at Georgia Gwinnett College require a Criminal Background Check.  Only those position which handle cash, checks and/or campus valuables require Credit Checks.  Checks may require up to three business days to complete.

No Smoking

To protect the health of the College community, smoking is prohibited in all campus buildings.
