Vision and Mission

Vision

Georgia Gwinnett College Library will be a premier 21st Century liberal arts college library. It will serve as a leader in the development and provision of resources and services and will incorporate the traditional and the contemporary in innovative ways to become a dynamic partner in the learning experience at the College, while advancing the institutional mission, values and vision.

Mission

The mission of the Georgia Gwinnett College Library is to support the institutional goals by serving the information and research needs of the students, faculty, and staff of Georgia Gwinnett College, a four year unit of the University System of Georgia. The library also provides resources and services for the partners of the former Gwinnett University Center, Georgia Perimeter College and the University of Georgia, and serves as a resource center for the Gwinnett county community.

Goals of the Library
  • Provide high quality print and electronic collections that are accessible and have the functionality and usability that students need and expect.
  • Provide innovative, usable space for patrons, staff, and collections.
  • Produce students with the research skills necessary to succeed academically, professionally, and personally.
  • Provide high quality reference services to help students succeed academically, professionally, and personally.
  • Develop outreach opportunities for the Library on the GGC campus and in the greater-Gwinnett community.
  • Develop a cohesive, well-trained faculty and staff to efficiently and effectively provide for the needs of the patrons.
  • Administer and develop the Library’s information systems to the benefit of the Library and Institution.
  • Provide a web-based presence that can be used as the starting point for all research by GGC students, faculty, and the community as a whole.
  • Develop a library-wide assessment plan to assess and evaluate the five aspects of the library: collections, facilities, services, staffing, and systems and whether the Library is meeting its goals and the goals of the Institution.
