How to Find Articles
Use GALILEO databases to locate full-text articles and citations to articles.
- Use the Subject tabs (at the top of the screen) to identify databases which contain articles in your subject area or
- Search in Academic Search Premier and Research Library, two GALILEO databases that include articles from most subject areas.
Note: You need a password in order to access GALILEO resources off-campus. Use our How to get the GALILEO password guide to obtain the current password.
If you locate a citation:
1) Search for the full-text of the article in another database
- Use the GALILEO Subject tabs to locate other databases in your subject area or ask a librarian for suggestions of which databases to try.
- UGA Students: Use UGA's Electronic Journal Locator to locate databases which contain the publication you need.
- If you are unable to speak to a librarian, use the Jake website
to search for the publication you need. Jake will
show you which databases contain full-text articles
from that publication. Note: We do not have
access to every database included in Jake. Once you
identify databases which contain the full-text, search GALILEO's
Databases A-Z list to see if the library has access
to them.
Note: There are currently issues with saving articles in HTML format in EBSCO databases if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer. No such issues exist if you are using Netscape Navigator. For more information, read our workaround.
2) Search for the article in print
- Search for the journal or magazine's title on the Exact
Search screen of GIL at GGC to see
if the library subscribes to the publication you need.
- Select Journal Title, type the name of the publication in the Search for: box, and then click Go.
- Check the holdings information (at the bottom of the record) to see if the library has the date and volume you need.
- Search for the journal or magazine's title on the Keyword Search screen of GIL at GGC to see if the library subscribes to the publication you need.
- Click the Narrow My Search button on the bottom right of the search panel.
- In the Location: field, select Periodicals, and then click the Narrow My Search button.
- Type the name of the publication in the Search for: box, and then click
Go. - Check the holdings information (at the bottom of the record) to see if the library has the date and volume you need.
- If you can't find the article you need at the GGC Library, use the Article Request form to request a copy of the article to be sent to the GGC library. InterLibrary loans typically have a two- to three-week delivery time. NOTE: Students will be charged $.15 per page for articles requested.
