Steps to Getting a Book
- Search in our library's catalog for traditional and electronic books: GIL at GGC. For more detailed information on using GIL, have a look at Performing a Keyword Search in GIL and Performing an Exact Search in GIL.
- If the item you are seeking is not located at GGC, a link will appear above the GIL search screen that says, "Click here to execute this search in the GIL Universal Catalog". Click that link or click the GIL Universal Catalog button on the GIL toolbar to perform your search in the Universal Catalog (UC). This allows you to search all of the libraries in the University System of Georgia. For more detailed information on using the GIL Universal Catalog and GIL Express, have a look at our GIL Express tutorial.
- Once you find your item in the UC, click the GIL Express Request button at the top of the page.
- Log into GIL Express using the on-screen instructions, and be sure to choose your home institution (GPC, UGA, SPSU, MCG).
- Choose the type of request GIL Express Request, and then click the OK button. The GIL Express (GE) form appears with the item information.
- In the middle of the screen, enter either your patron barcode or your SSN in the Social Security Number field.
- IMPORTANT! If you want to pick up your item at the Georgia Gwinnett College Library, be sure that you select Georgia Gwinnett College Library from the Pick Up Library dropdown list.
- Click the Submit Request button at the bottom of the form and check your GIL account for the status of your item.
If you did not find your book in the GGC catalog or the Universal Catalog, you can complete our online form to request a book from another library.
